Mandrivany, Ranomafana – January 29, 2026
A major milestone has been reached with the official inauguration of the Mandrivany Bridge, located in the Fokontany of Mandrivany, 12 km from Ranomafana. Built by Madagascar National Parks (MNP), this structure responds to a priority request from local communities and marks a turning point for nearly 9,000 residents from eight Fokontany in the communes of Kelilalina and Tsaratanana.
Welcomed with immense joy by the population, this infrastructure now facilitates circulation, ensures safety, strengthens exchanges between villages, and concretely improves the living conditions of the inhabitants around Ranomafana National Park.

An inauguration marked by the presence of authorities
The event was honored by the presence of the Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development, MANESIMANA Rafanomezantsoa Michaël, the Director General of Madagascar National Parks, RAKOTOARISOA Ony, the local Member of Parliament Haja Dinah, administrative authorities, and traditional leaders. The Chief of the Fokontany emphasized the historic importance of this visit, noting it was the first time Mandrivany welcomed both a Minister and a Director General.
The Member of Parliament expressed his gratitude and commitment to continue collaboration for rural development and the protection of the Park. The Director General of Madagascar National Parks recalled that the bridge complies with technical standards and embodies a conservation approach that delivers tangible benefits for local communities.

A Message of Education and Responsibility
The Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development took advantage of this gathering to encourage the students present to strengthen their learning about conservation and to adopt a responsible attitude. He reminded them that “it is the forest that shapes the identity of the Tanala people” and called for restoring the brilliance of this land by covering it once again with forests.

A Symbol of Conservation and Sustainable Development
The inaugural ribbon was cut before an enthusiastic crowd, followed by blessings from the village Ampanjaka. The community was commended for its unwavering involvement throughout the construction works. As stated by the Director General of Madagascar National Parks: “This bridge is a symbol of conservation that brings human benefits by making daily life easier for the inhabitants of Mandrivany. We hope that this collaboration will continue.”
