On December 20, 2025, a milestone was reached for the commune of Ambatovola and the Alaotra Mangoro region. In the presence of the Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development, MANESIMANA Rafanomezantsoa Michaël, local authorities, representatives of the General Directorate of Madagascar National Parks, as well as the team of the Analamazaotra Mantadia National Park, the rehabilitation of the Ambatovola Secondary School (Collège d’Enseignement Général – CEG) was officially inaugurated.
A powerful symbol for the future of youth
The rehabilitation of this school goes far beyond a simple infrastructure project: it embodies a long-term vision where education is placed at the heart of sustainable development. Thanks to the support of Madagascar National Parks and the funding provided by the REDD+ program through the Atiala Atsinanana Carbon Emission Reduction Program (PREAA), the students of Ambatovola now benefit from a modern and well-adapted learning environment.

In her speech, the Mayor of Ambatovola expressed deep gratitude to Madagascar National Parks for its constant support. She emphasized that the preservation of Protected Areas is inseparable from social progress: protecting nature also means ensuring future generations have access to educational opportunities and a healthy environment.

Concrete actions for local communities
Following this inauguration, Madagascar National Parks also carried out a seed distribution at the entrance of Analamazaotra Park. A total of 220 people benefited from this initiative, including the VOI Harena, the Menalamba Women’s Association, and Vatofotsy. These seeds will support the development of microprojects such as poultry farming and bean cultivation in Andasibe, thereby strengthening the food and economic autonomy of local families.

These initiatives demonstrate that the mission of Madagascar National Parks goes beyond biodiversity conservation: it extends to improving the living conditions of local communities, creating a direct link between the protection of Protected Areas and socio-economic development.

Through these actions, Madagascar National Parks reaffirms its commitment to combining environmental protection, access to education, and support for local communities. This integrated approach reflects a strong conviction: sustainability can only be achieved when nature and people move forward together.
The inauguration of the Ambatovola Secondary School (CEG) and the seed distribution in Andasibe embody the same ambition: building a future where young people have the tools to learn and thrive, while local communities find in the preservation of Protected Areas a source of prosperity and resilience.
