The Betampona Reserve plays an important role in the ecological functions of this region. The existence of the rivers that rise there and supply water to the watersheds and population of the PZ. In addition, the presence of local, regional and national endemic species justifies the importance of the Protected Area for the Network.
Main ecological features: It represents the biological diversity of Madagascar’s east coast; it is located in the low-lying evergreen rainforest below 800 meters (FDHBA) in Madagascar’s eastern ecoregion.
